I remember the day Joe started school at Robinson. I believe it was in mid-year of either 3rd or 4th grade when our teacher introduced him as the new student. His cheeks were a little reddish, perhaps from being made the center of attention. He was always a great friend after that.
Sometime in the late 80s, Joe recognized me and called to me as I was leaving an Arbor Drugs and walking to my car. We talked for a while but he sternly told me to make sure to be at the next Denby reunion, which of course, I didn't.
I will always remember him fondly. Rest in peace, kind and gentle man.
