Funeral mass for Michael Brent Swajanen, age 68 of Shelby Township, Michigan, will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10 AM (Visitation 9:30 AM) at the St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 48115 Schoenherr Road, Shelby Township, Michigan 48315. Family will continue the celebration of Michael's life with a luncheon following mass at Cranks Catering / Enchantment Banquet, 46915 Hayes Road, Shelby Township, MI 48315.
Michael passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was born on December 10, 1947 in Marquette, Michigan to Eino Yelmer and Olive Claire Swajanen (nee: L'Huillier). Michael Swajanen earned his undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University and his master's degree from Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan. He is a retired social worker with the State of Michigan.
He is survived by his Son, Jeffrey J. (Michelle) Swajanen of Washington Twp., Michigan; 2 Daughters, Michelle M. De-Freitas-E-Silva of Macomb Twp., Michigan and Sheri M. (Jon Martinez) Swajanen of Astoria, New York; Mother, Olive C. (the late Eino) Swajanen of Surprise, Arizona; Brother, Robert (Carole) Swajanen of Sun City, Arizona; and cherished grandson, Lucas Silva.
